Respublica was founded on 22nd January 1922 by a group of Polish students as the twentieth Polish students' fraternity. Arkonia was our mother fraternity.
The colours of Respublica, violet-silver-red, stands for Dignity-Learning- Patriotism. Our ideals are summed up in Latin words Decore Diligentia Ac Doctrina that means Dignity, Diligence and Learning.
Members of Respublica are either novices (laicy), full-members (mistrzowie) or graduate members (weterani). Full members and graduate members wear violet-silver-red ribbons and a violet student caps with white and red stripes. Novices wear violet ribbons and violet student caps without any additional stripes.
Between the two world wars, Fraternity Respublica lived very actively. Total membership reached more then 100 (including graduate members). The end came with II World War.
In 1945 it was impossible to rebuild the fraternity, as the communist state banned such organisations, considering them a threat for the regime. However, the graduate members met secretly during the time of communism.
Respublica was re-established as an academic fraternity in 1995, after the fall of communism. Now we are regaining our pre-war strength.
